2006 Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc Tasting Notes

Bright and fresh, with aromas of orange blossom, apricot, and peach, the 2006 vintage is our first release of a late harvest Sauvignon blanc for Carrefour Vineyards. On the palate, flavors of ripe apricot, peach and nectarines marry, producing an intense flavor and rich mouth feel. This wine makes the perfect aperitif or accompaniment for a light after dinner indulgence.

2006 Sauvignon Blanc Tasting Notes

The 2006 Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of Clone 1 and the French 317 from our Napa Estate vineyard. Planted in 2000, this is the third release of our Sauvignon Blanc. The wine has the wonderful crisp flavors of grapefruit, lemongrass, lime, pear and melon with aromas of kiwi, passion fruit and finishes with a nice balanced finish. Following the 2005 which won the Silver at the LA County Wine Competition, this wine promises to be a great wine for this summer and beyond.

2005 Sauvignon Blanc Tasting Notes

The wine has pink grapefruit, citrus, kiwi, grass, anise and melon flavors with a nice acid balance and finishes with a rich mouth feel.  Following the 2004 which received 90 points from the Wine Spectator and a top 100 from the San Francisco Chronicle, the wine tastes a little more lush and focused.

2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Tasting Notes

This wine is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petite Verdot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot.  It was aged 18months in 50% new French oak and one American oak barrel.  This wine has supple ripe fruit characteristics with tones of berry, chocolate, current, vanilla, black pepper, spice and balanced tannins.  A big Cabernet Sauvignon that shows finesse and balance and will continue to improve for many years.

2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Tasting Notes

The wine is a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot and 3% Petite Verdot. It was aged 18 months in 50% new French oak and bottled in April 2005. It has black cherry, berry, currant, cedar, spice, mint, chocolate and creamy tannins. The flavors linger on the palate with a suppleness and finesse that reflects Carrefour’s winemaking style.

2005 Cabernet Franc Estate Tasting Notes

The 2005 Cabernet Franc exhibits a sensational inky ruby red color with ripe cassis, plum and berry flavors. The palate is full and round complemented by the integrated oak, cedar and a hint of dark chocolate. The wine finishes with fine but firm tannins.

2005 Merlot Estate Tasting Notes

This wine is a blend of 85% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.  It was aged 18 months in 35% new French oak.  The wine has deep red hues which exhibit terrific depth and concentration.  Aromas are rich and ripe with notes of black current, vanilla and toasted oak.  The wine has flavors of cassis, berry, black cherry and firm tannins.  The wine finishes with firm tannins and oak undercurrents and has a lush balanced velvety structure.

2003 Merlot Estate Tasting Notes

The wine is a blend of 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. It was aged on 35% new French oak and bottled in April 2005. It is a fleshy, full bodied Merlot with flavors of red cherry, raspberry, spice, currant and balanced tannins with a long finish.

2005 Pinot Noir Estate Tasting Notes

The 2005 Pinot Noir exhibits sensational hues of deep red, and a depth of color. The aromatics are rich, deep and generous, offering spicy, cherry aromas with some toasty oak. The palate is full of ripe, rich cherry flavors integrated with toasty oak, and a hint of plum. The wine has good structure and balance, and finishes with fine but firm tannin.
